Surgical/Neuro ICU:

This unit has a patient population that comprises of adolescent, adult and geriatric trauma, general surgical, orthopedic neurosurgical and neurocritical care patients required highly skilled care and close monitoring.

Cardiovascular ICU:

This unit has medical and surgical cardiacthoracic and vascular critical care populations. Including patients who have experienced myocardial infarction, have undergone open heart surgery, and those requiring cardiac support with intra-aorta balloon pump or Impella.

Medical ICU:

Patients on this unit requiring critical care services will have medical diagnoses such as respiratory failure, severe infections, gastrointestinal complications, liver failure, renal failure, pharmacologic overdoses, endocrine emergencies and critically ill medical neurology patients.

Burn ICU:

The Burn Center offers critical care and skilled medical-surgical burn/wound management to adults and pediatric patients with thermal, electrical, radiation and chemical injuries.  Frostbite, limb reattachments and T.E.N.S. patients are also managed in the Burn Center.  Additionally, the Burn Center is a secondary ICU placement for a sub-set of over ICU patients as well as plastic surgery patients.

Qualifications: 

•Completion of an associate, baccalaureate or master’s degree program in Nursing. BSN/MSN strongly preferred and generally expected that BSN/MSN is obtained within 5 years of hire.  Must have at least one year of acute care RN experience.  ICU RN experience is strongly preferred.

•Licensed as a registered nurse by the State of Minnesota

•CPR for the professional rescuer or BLS for healthcare providers

•Knowledge of current nursing practices and techniques

•Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing

•Ability to effectively participate on an interdisciplinary treatment team

•Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with patients, family member and co-workers
