POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Licensed Clinical Therapist

CASA for Children of DC is a leading voice in advocacy for court-involved youth in the District of Columbia. CASA DC connects specially-trained volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocates to support vulnerable and at-risk youth in foster care and the juvenile justice system. CASAs develop a mentor-like relationship with their youth and advocate for their youth’s best interests in Court, promoting greater outcomes and the opportunity to thrive. The agency is organized as a charitable corporation under the not-for-profit laws of the District of Columbia. It is qualified as a tax-exempt charitable organization under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)3 and is classified as a public charity. General Summary:

The Therapist is employed by CASA for Children of DC. The Therapist’s primary responsibility is to provide clinical and therapeutic efforts in order to provide strong advocacy for children and youth that CASA DC serves, with a trauma-focused lens. The Therapist works directly with all case-carrying staff, in addition to their assigned clients, in an effort to carry out the CASA for Children of DC mission and ensure that all children and youth are supported in a trauma-informed way. The Therapist will provide individual and family counseling, as well as structured groups as the agency deems appropriate. The Therapist is also responsible for assisting the Management Team with the coordination of program data collection, grant reporting, communications, and training activities of the organization.  Full Time or Part Time opportunity available.  Hours will include both in person and virtual options.  At least two evenings per week are required to meet clinical needs of the organization.  4 day work week, No On-Call responsibilities, no weekends (unless desired) and no holidays. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

Therapeutic Responsibilities

  • Conducting bio-psycho-social assessments and social histories
  • Establishes positive and trusting rapport with clients
  • Diagnose, develope, and implement treatment plans 
  • Provide ongoing therapeutic services
  • Complete Notes in a timely and efficient fashion in EHR system
  • Facilitating group interventions based on Girls’ Circle curriculum as needed
  • Assess youth for safety, including creating safety plans and following proper safety protocol
  • Conduct regular trauma-informed trainings for staff, as discussed with clinical team
  • Collaborate and support case management services which include referrals to community resources and outreach with other parties involved in the case.
  • Contributing to a multidisciplinary treatment team
  • Demonstrate culturally competent service delivery in accordance with the NASW Standards for Cultural Competence in Social Work Practice

Programmatic and Organizational Tasks

  • Assist the Management Team in coordinating program data collection and evaluation for grant reporting and other programmatic report writing.
  • Assist Program Managers in the collection of demographic and outcome data on CASA youth, volunteers, and cases.
  • Lead by example in implementing organizational policies, procedures, and incorporating organizational values: Integrity, Compassionate Accountability, Authenticity, Respect, Optimism, and Collaboration

Knowledge & Skills

  • A Master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field 
  • Licensure in DC and/or MD required, Clinical License is preferred
  • A minimum of three years of experience in clinical work, juvenile justice, and/or child welfare 
  • Knowledge of the juvenile justice and child welfare system preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with trauma/abuse survivors, children, and/or families.
  • Ability to communicate with compassion and empathy
  • Ability to navigate technology efficiently for programming, communication, meetings, emailing, and documentation purposes.
