TITLE: Outpatient Psychotherapist DEPARTMENT: Clinical Service of the Psychiatric Service Line

JOB SUMMARY:
The psychotherapist performs as a clinician in the Psychiatric Service Line providing individual, family, and/or group psychotherapy for child, adolescent, adult, and/or Substance Abuse patients and maintains competency and licensure as delineated through education, experience, and tests.

Positions directly supervised: Provide supervision when needed for clinical expertise or requirement.
MAJOR JOB FUNCTIONS:
The following is a summary of the major essential functions of the job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below, and specific functions may change from time to time.
- Provides diagnostic evaluations, individual, family, and/or group psychotherapy/psychoeducation to patients anywhere within the Health System as assigned.
- Provides crisis intervention as needed.
- Provides other appropriate patient services as needed to include evaluation and treatment of individuals with substance use disorders.
- Prepares assessment and ongoing evaluation for further treatment, as assigned.
- Required to work shifts that may include weekends and holidays.
- Maintains proper contacts with agency/support systems of patients.
- Participates in multidisciplinary treatment conferences and/or rounds, as needed.
- Completes all required documentation fully and in a timely manner.
- Performs expected number of therapy hours each week.
- Participates in appropriate supervision.
- Performs supervision when needed or requested by the Clinical/Addictions Coordinator.
- Engages in peer review activities to determine compliance with policies and regulatory requirements.
- Submits billing information accurately and in a timely manner.
- Participates in service line business/planning meetings.
- Participates in service line marketing programs as needed.
- Participates in continuing education and applicable hospital mandatory training.
- Performs other related duties as appropriate/assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The following qualifications, or equivalent, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential function of this job.
EDUCATION AND FORMAL TRAINING: Masters or PhD in Social Work, PhD Psychology, or related degree required. Fully licensed in area of education; licensure as LCSW, LCSW-A, LCMHC or LPA is required. LCSW-A must be fully licensed within one year of LCSW test eligibility.
WORK EXPERIENCE: Extensive previous practice in outpatient and/or inpatient mental health facility preferred. Current participation on Managed Care Provider Panels preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Licensure in respective discipline required. Skills in providing individual, family and/or group therapy to children, adolescents, adults, and Substance Abuse patients. Must have a working knowledge of basic computer skills to include the use of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook and Internet browsing and search retrieval. Applicants will be tested for basic knowledge. Applicant must meet competency screening at time of interview.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to see, hear, read, and have manual ability to use telephones, video equipment and computer keyboard. Must be able to move throughout all departments of the Medical Center and effectively communicate orally to patients, family members, personnel, and physicians.
