Job Title: Billing and Credentialing Specialist Intern
Location: Remote
Internship Type: Unpaid
Hours: Minimum 20 hours per week
Duration: 6 months - 1 year with potential for employment offer based on performance at the end of the internship agreement
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance with healthcare billing and credentialing regulations.
- Develop, maintain, and update provider profiles on CAQH, ensuring accuracy and compliance with CMS standards.
- Collaborate with payors to resolve enrollment discrepancies and answer inquiries from healthcare providers.
- Stay informed on insurance products, policies, and relevant legislation.
- Ensure confidentiality and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Manage billing processes, including claims submission and payment tracking.
- Support the credentialing process by maintaining records and completing applications.
- Help maintain B&SW’s compliance with state and federal regulations for service delivery.
Educational and Experience Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate program related to healthcare administration, business administration, or a relevant field OR in possession or pursuit of a Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) certification.
- Strong computer proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Excel, Word, and database systems.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to plan and prioritize work to meet important deadlines.
- Exemplary customer service skills with clear and effective communication abilities.
Additional Information:
- Interns must be at least 18 years old and enrolled in an accredited college or university program.
- This internship does not provide financial compensation; however, it may lead to an employment opportunity based on the intern's performance.
- The intern will work directly with the Owner.
