Therapeutic Services Agency, Inc. (TSA) has been providing mental health expertise and evidenced based practices in the spirit of innovation and excellence since 1978. TSA added the Deaf/Hard of Hearing and DeafBlind Program 8 years ago to provide culturally affirmative and language specific services to address the mental health needs of children who are deaf, deafblind, or hard of hearing. We are looking for a supervisor full-time to manage this program whom is a mental health therapist with excellent communication skills, and a willingness to increase their knowledge and ability to work with children in this low-incidence group.

Position is responsible for staff and services in a geographic region or particular service, working under the direction of a company director while focusing on clinical and related activities of the staff assigned to their supervision. Other aspects of staff experience such as well-being and self-care, navigation of company and service systems, processing interactions, and related functions are within the scope of the clinical supervisor’s responsibilities as well as providing assistance with the management of internal operations of TSA and external contacts and activities to sustain and enhance the overall health and well-being of the organization in order to support TSA achieving its mission by performing the following duties. This position also provides Regional Lead roles in networking with the public and coordinated programs to provide awareness and greater visibility and access to Mental Health services for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing and DeafBlind. 

Responsibilities also include providing an array of mental health services to our clients such as diagnostic assessments, treatment planning, individual therapy, family therapy, individual skills, and family skills. This position is also responsible for promoting and marketing the program; and for providing presentations to community groups, at professional conferences, and to school staff about the benefits of culturally affirmative, language specific mental health services to children who are deaf/hard of hearing or deafblind. This is an itinerant position and requires the therapist to live in Minnesota.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must either be professionally licensed in Minnesota as a LICSW, LP, LMFT, or LPCC.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both spoken and written English and exposure to American Sign Language to complete job duties.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population of individuals by using tact, diplomacy, and flexibility.
  • Ability to problem-solve and work independently.
  • Working knowledge of various computer platforms including, word processing, spreadsheet, database entry, presentation software, and video conferencing.
  • Must have reliable transportation, hold a valid driver’s license, and maintain current auto insurance.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • In-depth knowledge of Deaf culture, language deprivation and its effects, and communication barriers and accommodations for individuals who are deaf, deafblind, or hard of hearing.
  • 2 years of clinical practice serving children and adolescents with Emotional Disturbance and Severe Emotional Disturbance and their families.
