Therapeutic Services Agency, Inc. (TSA) has been providing mental health expertise and evidenced based practices in the spirit of innovation and excellence since 1978. TSA added the Deaf/Hard of Hearing and DeafBlind Program 8 years ago to provide culturally affirmative and language specific services to address the mental health needs of children who are deaf, deafblind, or hard of hearing. We are looking for a full-time mental health therapist with excellent verbal skills, and a willingness to increase their knowledge and ability to work with children in this low-incidence group.

Responsibilities include providing an array of mental health services to our clients such as diagnostic assessments, treatment planning, individual therapy, family therapy, individual skills, and family skills. This position is also responsible for promoting and marketing the program; and for providing presentations to community groups, at professional conferences, and to school staff about the benefits of culturally affirmative, language specific mental health services to children who are deaf/hard of hearing or deafblind. This is an itinerant position and requires the therapist to live in the Southwest or West Central Region of Minnesota.

Required Qualifications:

Must either be professionally licensed or license eligible in Minnesota as a LICSW, LP, LMFT, or LPCC.

Ability to communicate effectively in both spoken and written English and exposure to American Sign Language to complete job duties.

Ability to work with a diverse population of individuals by using tact, diplomacy, and flexibility.

Ability to problem-solve and work independently.

Working knowledge of various computer platforms including, word processing, spreadsheet, database entry, presentation software, and video conferencing.

Must have reliable transportation, hold a valid driver’s license, and maintain current auto insurance.

Preferred Qualification:

Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)

In-depth knowledge of Deaf culture, language deprivation and its effects, and communication barriers and accommodations for individuals who are deaf, deafblind, or hard of hearing.

2 years of clinical practice serving children and adolescents with Emotional Disturbance and Severe Emotional Disturbance and their families.
