 Skills Development: During this final internship, psychology interns will gain skills in:

 Clinical Assessment: Conduct comprehensive assessments, including detailed social histories, mental status examinations, and identification of risk factors.

Treatment Planning: Develop evidence-based, culturally responsive treatment plans tailored to each client's unique needs.

Evidence-Based Practice: Identify and apply evidence-based practices to effectively treat common mental health conditions.

Diagnostic Skills: Conduct thorough diagnostic evaluations and accurately diagnose mental health conditions using the DSM-5-TR or ICD-11.

Case Management: Coordinate care and collaborate with other professionals, agencies, and community resources to ensure clients receive appropriate services and support.

Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all client interactions, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.

Cultural Competence: Work effectively with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds and adapt treatment approaches to meet each client's unique needs.

Self-Awareness and Self-Care: Recognize personal biases, limitations, and countertransference issues, and engage in self-care practices to prevent burnout and ensure well-being.

Case Consultation: Interns are expected to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of various mental health diagnoses during case consultations by presenting evidence-based information from peer-reviewed articles, books, and continuing education. Active participation in discussions and providing feedback to peers is encouraged to foster a collaborative learning environment. Interns should share resources and ask questions to demonstrate a willingness to learn and grow as mental health professionals.
