Description

Our internship program is designed to provide your students with a comprehensive learning experience, including ongoing training and supervision, exposure to a diverse client population, and the opportunity to participate in continuing education to enhance their learning.

We are dedicated to providing quality care to our clients and are committed to supporting the education and growth of future professionals in the field. We believe that internships are an essential component of a student's education, providing the opportunity to gain hands-on experience, build professional relationships, and develop practical skills.

Our ideal intern is someone who is passionate about helping others, dedicated to their own personal and professional growth, eager to contribute to our team, and ready to apply what has been learned. We are looking for interns who have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, are detail oriented, and have a strong work ethic.

We offer flexible scheduling to accommodate academic obligations, ongoing training and supervision from our team of professionals, and the opportunity to attend regular team meetings and participate in professional development activities.

If you are interested in partnering with us to offer internship opportunities to your students, please do not hesitate to contact us. We would be happy to discuss the details further and answer any questions you may have.

During this final internship, social work or psychology interns will gain skills in:

  1. Clinical assessment: Interns should be able to conduct comprehensive assessments of clients, including taking a detailed social history, conducting a mental status examination, and identifying risk factors.
  2. Treatment planning: Interns should be able to develop treatment plans that are evidence-based, culturally responsive, and tailored to the unique needs of each client.
  3. Evidence-based practice: Interns should be able to identify and apply evidence-based practices to effectively treat common mental health conditions.
  4. Diagnostic skills: Interns should be able to conduct a thorough diagnostic evaluation and accurately diagnose common mental health conditions using the DSM-5-TR or ICD-11.
  5. Case management: Interns should be able to coordinate care and collaborate with other professionals, agencies, and community resources to ensure clients receive the appropriate services and support.
  6. Documentation: Interns should be able to maintain accurate and timely documentation of all client interactions, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
  7. Cultural competence: Interns should be able to work effectively with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds and adapt their treatment approaches to meet each client's unique needs.
  8. Self-awareness and self-care: Interns should be able to recognize their own biases, limitations, and countertransference issues and engage in self-care practices to prevent burnout and ensure their own well-being.

Overall, the goal of the final internship is to provide interns with the skills and experience they need to become competent and confident mental health professionals.

During case consultation, interns are expected to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of various mental health diagnoses by presenting evidence-based information. This can include information obtained from peer-reviewed articles, books, and continuing education. Interns will be expected to actively participate in discussions and provide feedback to other members of the group. The goal is for all interns to learn from each other and gain a deeper understanding of mental health conditions and treatment approaches. Interns are encouraged to share what they have learned and provide resources, such as links or articles, to support their points. Additionally, interns are encouraged to ask questions that demonstrate a willingness to learn and grow as mental health professionals. By actively participating in case consultation, interns can further develop their skills and contribute to the overall success of the internship program.

If this sounds like a good fit and aligns with your learning goals and objectives please send your request for internship or postdoctural training.
