The College of Education (COE) at Butler University invites applications for two faculty positions: Assistant Professor (Tenure-Track) of Counselor Education and Lecturer in Counselor Education, both with an expected start date of August 2025. Lecturer in Counselor Education:
The successful candidate will teach online courses in the CACREP core and Clinical Mental Health Counseling specialization on a 9-month contract with summer teaching expectations for additional compensation. We are looking for a new colleague who has expertise in and a demonstrated commitment to culturally responsive counseling across identity groups. We are specifically seeking a motivated colleague to enhance our rapidly growing online degree programs. We are particularly interested in applicants from identity groups currently underrepresented in the counseling profession.

Responsibilities
- Teach 12 credit hours of online courses during fall and spring semesters in addition to summer term teaching responsibilities annually for additional compensation;
- Collaborate with colleagues on the development, review, and revision of online counseling courses;
- Advise students regarding academic and fieldwork requirements;
- Supervise students during clinical fieldwork;
- Provide service to the program, College, University, and professional community
An earned doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP accredited institution is required. Significant coursework and/or commensurate professional experience in culturally responsive clinical mental health counseling are required by contract start date.

- Demonstrated commitment to interrupting and eliminating inequitable outcomes, removing barriers, and creating inclusive conditions for individuals and communities regardless of any predictive identities;
- Experience working with students and colleagues from a variety of cultural and linguistic backgrounds;
- Proficiency in another language in addition to English;
- Knowledge and experience to support learners from a variety of backgrounds with strong, student-centered, inclusive instructional methods;
- Alignment with the COE Shared Commitments and the mission of Butler University;
- Experience and expertise with online, asynchronous teaching and learning that fosters strong student-instructor connections and student engagement.
The position is located at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana but may be eligible for limited remote work.
