This position is for a medical billing specialist with ideally 2 years of billing experience.

We have an amazing, strong team that works well together. We are looking for a candidate who works well with a team, understands the importance of contributing to a positive office environment, and has experience in medical billing, credentialing, and/or reception and office work.

We are a small but growing counseling group practice in downtown Vancouver, WA. Medical billing training on our systems and EHR will be offered on the job. Good phone reception and customer service skills are strongly preferred. Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Google applications, and general computer skills are required. Familiarity with Office Ally, CAQH, and Availity is necessary. The ability to stay organized, develop efficient business processes, and be collaborative with your coworkers is imperative for thriving in this small business.

As a medical biller, you will be responsible for submitting and following up on insurance claims and ensuring timely payment for medical services provided. You will work closely with medical staff, patients, and insurance companies to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations.

Job duties will include:

  • Credentialing
  • Scheduling/managing appointments using client management software
  • Review and verify the accuracy of medical codes and charges for services provided
  • Submit insurance claims and follow up on unpaid or denied claims
  • Manage accounts receivable and process payments from patients and insurance companies
  • Communicate with medical staff and insurance companies to resolve billing discrepancies and ensure compliance with regulations
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of healthcare billing and coding regulations and changes
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients and insurance companies, responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner

Qualifications for an ideal candidate:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree in healthcare billing or related field preferred
  • Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS) certification preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in medical billing and coding
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, coding systems (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS), and insurance billing procedures
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic health records (EHR) systems
  • Experience in AdvancedMD Practice Management system preferred
  • Experience in medical and/or mental health settings is preferred

Employees will have access to paid sick leave after 90 days of employment, and full-time employees will have access to vacation time after 120 days. Weekly hours will be set after the probationary period on the job.
