The Annette Caldwell Simmons School of Education and Human Development at Southern Methodist University seeks a full-time Clinical Assistant Professor within the Department of Counseling.

Principal responsibilities include:
- Teaching counseling related courses and/or related topics with specific emphasis on LGBTQ+ Affirmative Therapy and/or school counseling, diversity, addiction/substance abuse, research, statistics
- Academic (individual and group) advising
- Clinical supervision of students
- Service to the department to support program projects and events
- Service to the school and university
This is a renewable non-tenured position with an initial one-year appointment beginning August 2023. Required qualifications include:
- A doctoral degree in counseling or counselor education (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) from a CACREP-accredited program
- Teaching experience in counseling related courses and/or related topics with specific emphasis on LGBTQ+ affirmative therapy, addiction/substance abuse, research, statistics, school counseling, and/or diversity
- Demonstrated identity as a counselor educator and clinician
- Clinical experience in the field
Preferred qualifications:
- LPC and/or LMFT
- Clinical supervisory experience and/or supervisory credential
- LGBTQ+ counseling experience
- School counseling experience
- Addiction/substance abuse experience
- Clinical counseling experience
- Experience in supervision/management of a clinic
- One to three years teaching experience
